Taking place in entirely different eras, there’s a good bit of time between Kratos’ fight in God of War 3 and his journey in the 2018’s God of War reboot. While there are some hints as to what happened between the two, there aren’t many full-on explanations or details concerning his journey from Ancient Greece to the land of Norse mythology. A new comic series has been announced that hopes to shed a little light on Kratos’ adventures in between the two titles.

Coming from Dark Horse Comics, the new mini-series is set to be called God of War: Fallen God and will fill in some of the gaps within the history of Kratos. According to the recent announcement, Kratos will be headed to a desert setting, hoping to puts some distance between himself and his former home. On his journey, the vengeful Ghost of Sparta is said to wind up battling against his most difficult opponent yet, himself. The comic’s cover art and story synopsis can be seen below.

God of War: Fallen God follows Kratos after conquering Zeus and thwarting Athena. Believing himself to be finally free of his bondage, he sets sail for the desert in an attempt to distance himself from his home and his shame only to find his rage and guilt follow close behind. Kratos rages against the one foe that has proven to be unconquerable—himself. But a war against oneself is unwinnable, and only invites madness.”

God of War is currently available on PlayStation 4 as an exclusive title, with a sequel game expected to come along sometime down the line. The first issue of the Fallen God comic series is set to arrive on June 24th, while the run itself will be written by Chris Roberson, illustrated by Tony Parker, colored by Dan Jackson, and lettered by John Roshell.
