God Of War Director Reacts To Positive Reviews In Emotional Video (VIDEO)

The new path of the God of War series has been a long time in the making, from an incredible reveal back at E3 2016 to the stellar scores its received upon release. Much of the game’s creative influence owes itself to director Cory Barlog, who pulled from his long tenure with the series as well as his own emerging fatherhood to craft the grounded experience we have today. Now that Kratos’ new adventure has hit shelves, a new video has surfaced where the God of War director reacts to the outpour of support the game has received.

Posted to his personal YouTube channel, Barlog begins his video very much on the nervous side, an understandable feeling considering how much painstaking effort he and his team at Santa Monica Studio have put into the project. Those shaky nerves do not last too much longer after witnessing the overwhelming love the game has received from both critics and fans. It immediately becomes clear how emotionally gratifying this widespread acknowledgement is to Barlog, as he begins to heartfeltly thank his co-workers for helping make something truly special. Check it out below.

The director’s overjoyed response to God of War‘s critical success definitely well-earned as the game currently sits atop as the best-reviewed new PlayStation 4 title on Metacritic with a score of 95 out of 100. This beats out other acclaimed releases such as Persona 5, Metal Gear Solid V, and Uncharted 4, all of which are scored slightly lower at 93. All in all, I think we can all agree with how satisfying it is to see a hard-working and creative studio get the recognition it deserves. God of War is out now exclusively for PlayStation 4.
