God Of War Collector's Edition Map Contains A Special, Secret Puzzle

God of War is a massive game, although it doesn’t necessarily look like it is from the top level thanks to its intricate use of different realms. Naturally with a game this massive there are bound to be plenty of secrets and easter eggs, though there’s a special secret that dedicated gamers have discovered from, of all things, the special cloth map that comes with the Collector’s Edition of the game.

Some inquisitive fans discovered an intricately crafted riddle on the cloth map found within the Collector’s Edition version of God of War. YouTuber BRKsEDU is credited with finding the secret, one that requires the use of the in-game alphabet to uncover. Once deciphered the text reveals some interesting backstory behind our favorite dwarves, Sindri and Brok. Here’s the annoted physical map, for context:

Those that have been playing through God of War will know that Sindri and Brok don’t see eye to eye, and the riddle actually reveals the “why” behind it all. Players that choose to follow the clues revealed in the riddle are able to retrace the footsteps of Brok and Sindri, which ends up leading to Muspelheim Temple, where players can access a rift that contains a special pommel for Kratos’ axe.

The riddle within the map is one of the craftier things we’ve seen, and it just goes to show how the folks over at Santa Monica Studio must have been when developing God of War. That said, the game has only been out for a little over a week now…who knows what players will find moving forward?

God of War is available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
