First Look At Upcoming Gears Of War Comic: The Rise Of RAAM (GALLERY)
Those still waiting on news of a possible Gears of War 5 may have to wait a while, but in the meantime IDW Publishing has your Gears fix covered. A new three-part Gears of War comic has been announced titled “The Rise of RAAM”, as part of a collaborative effort between IDW, Microsoft Studios, and The Coalition. The comics reveal the origin story of RAAM, one of the baddies from the first Gears of War game. Here’s the description of the Gears of War comic from IDW:
The most iconic villain of the Gears of War universe takes the spotlight! Years before he became the bane of humanity on Emergence Day, RAAM rose through the ranks to take leadership of the Locust Horde armies thanks to his intelligence, strength, and ruthlessness. Now, witness that swift and brutal ascent in… The Rise of RAAM!”
As mentioned above, Gears of War: The Rise of RAAM digs into the backstory of RAAM, and as such goes back prior to the events of Emergence Day. RAAM starts off as a lowly Drone soldier, and only after proving his skill and intelligence does he rise to become a member of the Theron Guard. After a few more years RAAM becomes the leader of the Locust military, at which point he is then introduced during the events of Emergence Day.
Gears of War: The Rise of RAAM is written by Kurtis Wiebe and illustrated by Max Dunbar and colorist Jose Luis Rio. The first issue of the new comic is now available for purchase, with both the print version and the digital version selling for $3.99. Check out the gallery below for a sneak peek of the new comic:
