Gears of War 4 Gets in the Halloween Spirit with New Event ‘Pumpkin Ball’
It’s the season of ‘spooky’ and games jumping on the hype of Halloween are a-plenty (we are NOT complaining!). From Destiny, to GTA 5, DOOM, Overwatch, and many more, it is easy to get into the holiday spirit! Gears of War 4 can now include themselves with that list because The Coalition, the developer, just made the announcement that this award winning shooter is about to get hit with the festive bug big time with an all new multiplayer mode!
Gears Dodgeball multiplayer mode just got a bit of an upgrade with the new Pumpkin Ball event:
“The dead rise faster this Halloween […] Pumpkin Ball is a remix of Dodgeball that introduces 1 second respawn times and deduced respawn protection resulting in a faster paced Dodgeball experience where the dead don’t stay dead for long.”
The playlist also features a few “darker maps” from the latest in the Gears of War franchise: Fallout, Forge, Harbor, Impact, and Lift. Included in this event is an opportunity for players to earn some extra XP during the Pumpkin Ball. Want to get into even more of the festive mood? Pumpkin heads will be making a reappearance during this new mode including a new design heavily inspired by GoW 4’s Juvie enemy (pictured above).
Another feature that comes with this new event are the Halloween Elite packs that players can look forward to starting today, the 27th. These are purchasable packs that promises at least one Epic or Legendary card. Cards found in the Halloween Gear Packs are exclusive to the Day of the Dead Legendary Collection so if you are looking for something rare, get yours now because this offer is only available until November 1st.
The Coalition did speak out about future changes being made with upcoming updates including louder teammate footsteps, less forgiving ‘rage-quitting’ penalties, unequal matches with mismatched rosters, and weapon balances – just to name a few.
