Call of Duty: Warzone Jigsaw

Infinity Ward’s reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as well as its battle royale companion Warzone has undergone quite a few changes since first being released. However, the current Halloween season looks to have a decidedly spooky makeover in-store with The Haunting Of Verdansk, a new event promising a spine-chilling array of haunted content. The likes of new weapons, gear, and limited-time modes are peppered throughout the new Call of Duty Halloween event alongside the arrival of iconic cinematic slasher characters Jigsaw and Leatherface.

As detailed by a new blog post and trailer from Activision, the Warzone locale of Verdansk has been covered by the dark of night as numerous changes come to the battleground. For starters, the puppet from the Saw series, a.k.a “Billy,” is getting a skin bundle for the event, which includes a special “Phlebotomozier” throwing knife as well as Jigsaw-themed blueprint weapons, a Cargo Truck skin, a tricycle charm, and a redesigned Assault Rifle and Shotgun.

On the Leatherface side of things, the Texas Chainsaw baddie arrives with a killer assortment of content: A special LMG blueprint called “Family Heirloom,” an add-on chainsaw Stock attachment, as well as a gnarly one-handed hammer blueprint called “Anybody Home?.” in addition, the bundle comes with a bonus “SMG blueprint weapon, a vehicle horn, and five additional Texas Chainsaw Massacre-themed items.”

Of the several mode variants coming to the shooter, the arguable crown jewel of the Call of Duty Halloween event is a limited-time mode called Zombie Royale. The COD series is no stranger to hordes of brain-chomping corpses, but the mode is spun by making other players the Zombies this time around. After being killed in battle, players will become a zombie with all the supernatural speed, strength, and thermal vision such a change would suggest. Similarly to the Gulag, undead players have the chance to jump back into the fight, but instead by collecting two Syringes variously dropped on the battlefield.

A during these happenings, a collection of holiday-themed “Trick or Treat” boxes are also on supply around various modes, either rewarding players with loot or punishing with a boisterous on-screen jumpscare. A total of “16 unique rewards” can be found in total and range from weapon blueprints to personalization items. Those who aim to be the very best and catch ’em all will be hit with a bonus reward of the Legendary “Pumpkin Punisher” Assault Rifle Blueprint. A full rundown of this scavenger hunt as well as details on the Call of Duty Halloween event itself can be found on the official website.

As of now, The Haunting Of Verdansk has officially begun in both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer as well as Warzone, and the spookiness is set to continue until November 3rd. Though there’s little less than a two-week window of Trick or Treating ahead of us, Call of Duty appears to have plenty planned in the meantime, with Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War set to release for current and next-gen platforms in less than a month.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
