Gabe Newell Jokes About Half-Life 3 Never Coming Out (VIDEO)

Half-Life 3

One of the biggest running jokes in the gaming community revolves around Valve and their inability to count to three. More specifically, Half-Life 3 has been at the center of many jokes over the years, with Valve co-founder Gabe Newell even getting in on the laughs. That said, he’s done it again.

During a recent launch event for Valve’s new virtual reality headset, Newell couldn’t help but make a reference to the number three in a joking manner, likely triggering Half-Life 3 hopefuls. This all came about when he began to talk about the milestones that the company has achieved over the years. Go ahead and take a look for yourself in the video below (around the 3:10 minute mark).

“Milestones aren’t really the end of anything,” Newell said. “They’re really the beginning. So Half-Life led to Half-Life 2, Source led to Source 2, the experiments that we did with Team Fortress 2 were what enabled us to build Dota. Artifact is the reason we’re able to do Underlords. So, maybe someday the number 2 will lead us to that shiny integer glowing on a mountain someplace. We’ll just have to see.”

We see what you did there, Newell, and so does the rest of the gaming community. Now, can we please have Half-Life 3? One can only hope. In the meantime, keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
