Free Nintendo Switch Online App Released – We’ve Got the Details Here!
A new Nintendo Switch Online app was released for iOS and Android and it’s free to use. It is meant to support Splatoon 2, which is launching this week and it allows players to invite their friends to online matches and to use voice chat, as well as invite other players to private battles, Splatfest battles, league battles, and Salmon runs with the SplatNet 2 service.
This free Nintendo Switch Online app is intended to be a temporary tool for Splatoon 2’s online functionality until the official launch of the Switch’s online service in 2018. Once that happens, players will need to pay for a membership that will cost $19.99 a year, but there will also be 1 month ($3.99) and 3 month ($7.99) options as well. That is a lot cheaper than the PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold prices.
The mobile app will only work with an iPhone that has iOS 9.0 or newer and Android devices that are 4.4 or newer. Both support a whole bunch of languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Dutch, Italian, and Portuguese. So far the only game that this supports is Splatoon 2, which launches July 21st and players can learn more about the new app on it’s FAQ page.
