Final Fantasy XVI Dev Hints At A Reasonably Close Release Date
It’s been a few months since we last heard about Final Fantasy XVI, the latest numbered entry in the long running RPG franchise from Square Enix. Thankfully that wait seems nearly at an end, as the universally-beloved Naoki Yoshida has revealed that the time table for the game’s release may be sooner than one would expect from the Japanese publisher.
In a recent panel featuring members of the Final Fantasy XVI dev team, it was revealed that much of the game has already been finalized. Further, as revealed in quotes translated from @aitaikimochi, Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that the game was at a point in development where all the game’s scenarios are set in stone and voice recording for the English version has almost concluded.

As for when we’ll learn more about the upcoming game, Yoshi-P wants to wait until the game is close enough to being finished that, by the next time it is publicly shown, the release date will be reasonably close to it. With that said, a release date for the game will undoubtedly be forthcoming by the time a new trailer is finally shown. In the meantime, fans can at least keep themselves busy with Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, which is releasing in just a few months.
Final Fantasy XVI is currently in development.
