Reggie Fils-Aime Has Big Plans for Their Nintendo E3 Presentation This Year

Nintendo E3

With E3 inching ever closer, platform holders are starting to tease their plans for 2017. President of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime told Fox News that the Nintendo E3 show is going to be big. With the recent release of the Switch and so many possibilities on the horizon, it is easy to see why this year would be a big year for Nintendo.

E3 is always a big time for Nintendo. We look at each E3 as a unique opportunity to tell our story. And we’re gonna have a big E3 this year. We’re going to be showcasing a variety of games.”

Fils-Aime steered clear of specifics, but noted that Nintendo Switch and 3DS games would be displayed. In fact, the show will be open to the public and it is possible that plans may be tailored for this change with the Nintendo E3 show. The Nintendo president also discussed how difficult it is to predict where the industry is going:

I think anyone who says they know where this industry is going is really not knowledgeable about the industry, given that at its heart, it’s all about innovation and creativity.”

A few years have passed since there has been a traditional Nintendo E3 briefing. With the usual Nintendo Direct presentations offsite and Treehouse live streams, this announcement demonstrates a shift in strategy. The change likely has a great deal to do with the multitude of new games planned for the Nintendo Switch and 3DS, though only time will tell what fruit is to be born of this presentation.
