Dragon Ball Super: Broly Movie Debuts First Trailer, Release Date Announced

Dragon Ball Super

As learned earlier this month, Goku’s hulking foe Broly will be willing himself into Dragon Ball canon with the upcoming film Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The Legendary character’s newfound homecoming would also bring forth a new large-scale adventure under advisement from series creator Akira Toriyama. Debuting at San Diego Comic-Con, the first trailer for the epic new movie has been revealed, giving us the first look at the titular enemy in action.

As seen in the trailer below, any doubts that Broly wouldn’t live up to his ferocious Dragon Ball Z counterpart are quickly erased. The monstrous foe easily stands toe-to-toe with Super Saiyan Goku and Vegeta, and even goes as far as to pick a fight with the world-destroying Frieza. In one of the video’s final moments, we catch a glimpse of Broly’s unstable ultimate power, one which looks to even overwhelm the unshakable resolve of Goku.

This new Dragon Ball Super: Broly trailer presents plenty for fans to obsess over, and likely makes that western release date even more of a wait. We’ve known about the December 2018 start in Japanese theaters, but Funimation have now revealed that we can expect Broly to head westward in January 2019. Right now the only version of the movie confirmed for the US run is the English dub, but Funimation assures fans of the subbed variety will get their time to shine sometime down the line.

What do you think? Are you beyond excited by the awesomeness you witnessed in this trailer, or are you bummed that only the dubbed version will make it to theaters?
