Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z And GT Anime Join Crunchyroll

Dragon Ball Z

As streaming services continue to dominate the entertainment industry, anime proves to be an important piece of that equation. The big streaming services like Netflix have funded their own original anime projects, like their upcoming Scott Pilgrim anime. Some of the biggest pieces of the anime streaming market have been Funimation and Crunchyroll, which have commonly been the hosts of classic and new anime coming straight from Japan, as well as their English dubbed versions. One of the most beloved anime franchises of all time has been the Dragon Ball franchise. Now, the classic Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and GT anime series are now coming to Crunchyroll.

Sony announced the new additions on their official blog for the Crunchyroll streaming service. They have confirmed that the original Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT anime series are now available to stream on Crunchyroll. This includes the English dubbed versions of all three series, as well as the original Japanese with English subtitled versions of Dragon Ball and GT. The site also made sure to mention that they already had the full Dragon Ball Super anime series available to stream on the service.

Dragon Ball Z

The addition of the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT series likely comes as a benefit of the recent acquisition of Crunchyroll by Sony, which had previously also maintained ownership of the Funimation streaming service as well. It appears that the current plan is to bring the Crunchyroll and Funimation content all under one service, with Crunchyroll being the name kept for the merged service. Thankfully this means good Dragon Ball fun can be available for new audiences, and hopefully that means for anime series come in the future as well to Crunchyroll. Maybe one day they’ll have over 9000 anime!
