Middle-Earth Dev Honored as DLC Character in Shadow of War – Meet Forthog Orcslayer (VIDEO)

The developer behind Middle-Earth Shadow of War is paying tribute to fellow developer Michael “4G” Forgey is the most epic way possible by honoring his passing with a character made just for him. Forgey was the executive producer for Shadow of Mordor, the predecessor to Shadow of War, and he sadly passed away back in 2016 from cancer. The team quickly got creative on how to honor their fallen brethren.

The new tribute character goes by the name of “Forthog Orcslayer” and he is an unstoppable force that would do Forgey proud. The team described Forthog Orcslayer as a “legend among the Orcs of Mordor, Forthog Orcslayer is an unstoppable warrior who saves Mordor’s mightiest heroes at their moment of greatest need.”  See him in action yourself in the newest trailer below:

In addition to the most amazing tribute ever, Monolith also had this to say about Forgey’s passing and how they are honoring their friend and colleague,

We lost Mike to cancer during the development of Shadow of War, and we want to remember hiim and honor him with a little bit of immortality in Mordor. The legendary Forthog Orcslayer is our way to continue having Mike leap into battle and save us when we’re down.”

For every purchase of the Forgey-inspired Orcslayer, WB Games will donate $3.50 to his family from moment of release, all the way until December 31st of 2019. Though he passed last year, his memory is still very much alive and now players that enjoy his work and his fellow developers in the industry can crack open a few cold ones once again in his honor.

Shadow of War releases for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this October 10th. Are you a fan of Forgey’s work?
