Disneyland Parks are Getting Spider-Man and Avengers Themed Expansions

After bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy-themed ride Mission: Breakout! to Disney’s California Adventure earlier this year, Marvel is now making plans to bring even more of their massive comic book universe into the popular theme park. At Disney’s D23 Expo, it was announced that attractions featuring the likes of the mighty Avengers and wall-crawler Spider-Man are coming to Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure. Chairman Bob Chapek revealed the Disney Imagineers’ latest expansion project alongside the smallest member of the Guardians – Baby Groot.

After an amusing exchange where Groot accidentally reveals the Disneyland plans with the phrase “I am Groot”, Chapek adds that he “might as well elaborate” if the beans are already spilled. He went on to make the announcement of the park additions based on the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Friendly Neighborhood arachnid to the 7,000 in attendance. This seems to be part of a greater plan to create what Chapek calls a “completely immersive super hero world”.

No images, names, or premiere dates for either the Marvel attractions were announced, only that they were currently in the works. D23 also saw a brand new look at Disney Park’s upcoming Star Wars Land as well as a resort based on the franchise, both of which seem much further along in progress.
