The announcement that Star Wars Land, a 14-acre franchise themed park dubbed Galaxy’s Edge, will be opening in 2019 had fans excited! As if the prospect of spending a day or two embedded in a galaxy far far away wasn’t enough, Disney made a new announcement yesterday that will amp that excitement up to infinity and beyond; a completely immersive Star Wars resort is currently in development.

The company is creating an experience unlike any other for fans of the long running franchise. Visitors of the Star Wars resort will dive into a world that they can eat, drink, and sleep in. The resort is a hotel that will require guests wear clothes and gear that reflects the attire worn in the films.

Visitors will be greeted by images of space outside their windows, pulling them further into the experience. It will offer days worth of things to do, promising characters, stories, and adventure during the stay. Overall, the resort sounds like a fantastic adventure in the making. Here’s what Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek had to say in a press release:

It’s unlike anything that exists today. From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100 percent immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

From the concept images released, which can be seen in the gallery above, guests of the Star Wars resort will interact with characters from the universe, adding yet another layer to the immersion. As of yet, there is no opening date, however, with Galaxy’s Edge coming in the not too distant future there will be much to tide fans over until then.
