Bungie had brought up Faction Rallies some time ago, but there was only one problem – they didn’t give any details about the Destiny 2 feature. After leaving fans hanging, the developer has finally released information about the “special event”. If you haven’t completed the main campaign in Destiny 2, be warned, for there are spoilers that lie ahead.

In a recent blog post on Bungie’s website, the developer detailed the event that will begin on September 26 at 2AM PT. Essentially, the three factions from the first game in the franchise will be represented by Arach Jalaal(Dead Orbit), Lakshmi-2(Future War Cult), and Executor Hideo(New Monarchy). These three will present themselves in the Tower and you will have to pledge your loyalty to one of them. This will only happen after players have reached level 20 and gained access to the Tower. In the blog post, senior designer Tim Williams detailed what exactly Faction Rallies is:

Each of the factions of the Tower is having a rally to collect resources for its cause. They’re recruiting Guardians to gather supplies for their faction and destroy enemy resources. They’ll offer a suite of rewards to help the Guardians rise up against any enemy threats. As an incentive, each faction has set aside a powerful weapon to entice players to choose their side. The faction whose Guardians collect the most faction packages will be declared the winner. The winning faction will offer the weapon to everyone, but all who pledged loyalty will receive it with a huge discount as repayment for their contributions to their faction’s cause.”

After choosing a side, players will “return to the wild and complete activities in support of your faction.” Raids, strikes, exploring the Lost Sectors, and even competing in the Crucible will all be available to complete and earn glorious loot. Each faction has their own items up for grabs, so choose where your loyalty lies wisely. Here’s a look at what each camp offers:

The special weapon in each faction above will be available for 50,000 Glimmer. However, if you pledged your loyalty to the winning faction, the corresponding weapon will be discounted to 1,000 Glimmer. Players will earn Faction Tokens for completing the tasks listed above. These can be used to obtain the items(guns, armor, and shaders) in each camp. The Faction Rallies event will expire at 2AM PT on October 3, with the winners being announced at 10AM PT on the same day.

With the event set to begin in less than a week, it’s time to get out there and complete the main campaign so you can enjoy the upcoming action. Destiny 2 is currently available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with PC players still having to wait until October 24.
