Destiny 2 Leviathan Prestige Raid Delayed – Backlash From Player Base Rises
Bad news for our Destiny 2 raiders out there. Just a few days after announcing the October 10th arrival date for the upcoming Destiny 2 Leviathan Prestige Raid (Hard Mode), developer Bungie has delayed the raid, pushing it out to Wednesday, October 18th. The Leviathan Prestige Raid is apparently playable according to Bungie, though there is a bug that allows players to enter the throne room within the raid without the scripted infinite respawning of enemies. As such, the developer is pushing the raid out in order to correct the issue. Bungie employee Cozmo took to the forums to explain the issue and keep the game’s community informed:
An exploit has been discovered in the Leviathan Raid that causes the encounters to be stripped of their intended challenge. To allow time to fix this issue, we are delaying the start of the Prestige Raid until next week. It’s important to us that the team who earns World First status doesn’t have their legacy tarnished by doubt, skepticism, or uncertainty.
The new start time for the Prestige Raid is Wednesday, October 18, at 10AM Pacific.”
One would assume that this is how the story ends. Bungie proactively postponed the Leviathan Prestige Raid out by a week in order to fix a bug that the developer caught before the content went live, which in itself is something to be appreciated. That said, it isn’t always sunshine and rainbows within the gaming community. Almost immediately after Cozmo posted the delay notice, players within the community began attacking the developer for anything imaginable, from alleged streamer favoritism to complaints about Bungie fixing the Leviathan Prestige Raid rather than “fixing the game,” to players being upset about the raid delay to everything in between. While some frustration is understandable, it’s never okay to attack a developer or its employees. It looks like friendship is in short supply within the Destiny 2 community.
