More Death Stranding Details Emerge Following Latest Trailer, More Voice Actors

Death Stranding Tokyo Game Show

Another Tokyo Game Show has come and gone, but not before Sony and Japan’s golden boy Hideo Kojima stopped to deliver a much desired update on the progress of his mysterious new project Death Stranding. While it was confirmed that no playable demo of the game would be made available for players at the show, fans of Kojima’s work were eager to hear any news of the game and its progress that they could get their ears around. Sure enough, Kojima came in full force for the Death Stranding Tokyo Game Show presentation, with the game’s Japanese main voice cast in tow.

Many of those in attendance, such as YongYea on Twitter, have reported on the big presentation. The big update on the game’s development is that Kojima is actively supervising many aspects of development, with controller in hand to play the game and look for ways to make improvements. Much of this presentation focused on the Japanese version of the game, namely its Japanese voice actors who were present as well. Kojima expressed his opinion of Kenhiro Tsuda as the perfect Japanese dubbing choice for Norman Reedus’ character Sam, as he has dubbed characters for the actor before.

A highlight was also placed on Japanese voice actor for Snake in Metal Gear Solid, Akio Otsuka, who will portray Sam’s commanding officer. Otsuka has worked with Kojima for two decades, and seems quite happy to work with his friend once more. Kojima also confirmed that Kikuko Inoue will portray Lindsay Wagner’s character, and Nana Mizuki will voice Lea Seydoux’s character. We also learned that Satoshi Mikami will voice Troy Baker’s character, which is interesting considering both had voiced Ocelot in the Japanese and English versions of Phantom Pain, respectively. The Japanese cast certainly seems pretty solid, and quite a lovely tribute to Kojima’s esteemed career. Kojima’s days with Konami may have ended, but it seems he’s found the real treasure in the friends he’s made along the way.
