Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox Game Pass Leak “Was A Mistake,” Says Xbox Portugal
With the likes of Summer Game Fest going on to replace live in-person events, we are going to be getting a plethora of gaming news over the next few months delivered straight to the safety of our own homes. That said, we’ve been learning about some of 2020’s biggest titles recently, including the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, and according to a recent leak, Xbox Game Pass users may be able to jump in on day one. Unfortunately, that appears to have been a mistake.
The leak in question came in the form of a tweet from the Xbox Portugal account. The tweet, which has since been deleted, informed fans that Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, which is September 17th. Luckily, industry insider Nibel was able to snag a screenshot of said tweet, but the Xbox Portugal account replied, saying that it “was a mistake” on their part.
Hello. Unfortunately, this was a mistake on our part. We wanted to talk about Xbox One X Special Edition of Cyberpunk 2077. We have no information regarding Xbox Game Pass and, for that, we extend our deepest apologies.

“We wanted to talk about Xbox One X Special Edition of Cyberpunk 2077,” their reply read. “We have no information regarding Xbox Game Pass and, for that, we extend our deepest apologies.” While we don’t know whether or not Cyberpunk 2077 will be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one, we do know that the tweet was a mistake.
Of course, this doesn’t mean we won’t see the game on Game Pass come September 17th – it just simply means we don’t know yet. Microsoft does have an exclusive marketing deal with Cyberpunk 2077, and considering how popular (and wildly successful) the Xbox Game Pass is, it would not be the worst idea to offer the game through the service. Unfortunately, we will just have to wait until any sort of official announcement from CD Projekt RED or Microsoft.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to arrive on September 17th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
