Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Address Release Date Pressure

Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt RED has made 2018 a pretty memorable year for those anticipating their next adventure. After five years of radio silence, a Cyberpunk 2077 trailer emerged at this year’s E3, as did a private demo that was later released publicly.

That said, we still have no idea when we will be able to get our hands on the upcoming title. Many believe 2019 is the year, while others think 2020 will be when we see a launch. Polish analyst Vestor Dom Maklerski recently made a prediction that Cyberpunk 2077 would release in Q4 2019 with 19 million sales in that quarter alone. This was based on Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 opening with 17 million sales in two weeks.

However, the devs still are unsure as to when the futuristic RPG will arrive, but have since reiterated that it will be released “when it’s ready.” Taking to Twitter to spread some holiday cheer, they shared that exact message, which can be seen below:

In other Cyberpunk 2077 news, the dev team just grew by one with the addition of RiME lead level designer Manuel Mendiluce. In addition to this, CD Projekt RED’s Miles Tost recently discussed the various playstyles in which players can enjoy the experience. “A big part of what lets players immerse themselves in our game is allowing them to play it the way they want to,” he said. “This means providing them with options to navigate locations, solve or even bypass problems, etc. We never force players to adopt any particular playstyle and we certainly won’t do it in Cyberpunk 2077.”

We might not have a release date for Cyberpunk 2077 yet, but we can only hope 2019 brings more gameplay, screenshots, details, or maybe even the launch date itself with it.
