Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Discuss Their Immersive And Believable World

Cyberpunk 2077

Everything we’ve seen or heard from developers regarding Cyberpunk 2077 points to the RPG potentially being the most realistic video game ever made. That is, of course, until the actual year the title is named for arrives, which will surely bring about technology we can only dream of. However, it seems that the devs are trying their hardest to not only make Night City feel real, but also a place players can immerse themselves in and believe every bit of it.

CD Projekt RED’s Miles Tost, a level designer on Cyberpunk 2077, has recently been discussing the forthcoming adventure based on Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk 2020. We’ve learned of the seamlessness that will be featured, its balance between action and philosophy, and how it won’t be like Grand Theft Auto. This all plays a role in how believable the experience will be.

“We believe that having a world you can interact with and which reacts to your presence is a key part of a good open-world experience,” Tost recently told GamingBolt. “Dynamic environments ultimately serve to fulfill that promise exactly: they help to enhance your immersion, the game world to become more alive and believable, and — what’s especially important when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077 — add a whole different level of weight and grit.”

“Combat becomes that much more vicious too, enhancing the feeling of a world shrouded in violence and danger,” he continued. “Given all that, let me just say that we’re working hard on making sure that our environments look just as good when they’re untouched as when they’re getting blown up, without sacrificing the performance.”

Needless to say, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be one hell of an experience for players. Given CDPR’s track record with the Witcher franchise, we can only imagine how in-depth the futuristic RPG is going to be. We’ll all find out for ourselves when it inevitably drops for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Rumors are claiming a 2019 release, and we can only hope they are right.
