CW Seed Reprising Constantine as Animated Series
Fans of the gritty comic series Constantine were treated to a full season of demon ass-kicking when NBC aired the show back in 2014. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled in 2015 just when things began to take off, and the legend of John Constantine, DC’s grungy but likable demon-killer, came to an end. After The CW started streaming Constantine on CW Seed in 2016, rumors began to spread about the series not being done for good. Fortunately, it was announced today that CW Seed will, in fact, be taking over his story, bringing the show back as an animated series, much to the excitement of viewers everywhere.
The announcement showed up on Twitter this morning, before being retweeted by Matt Ryan himself. Ryan, who took the show by storm in the original series with his spot-on interpretation of the titular character, will be reprising his role as Constantine in the animated series, while Greg Berlanti, overseer of the CW’s other DC based shows, will also be producing the show. Previously, Constantine had reprised his role on an episode of Arrow shortly after the show’s cancellation, though that singular episode was the only time Constantine had seen television audiences since the show’s freshman season finale.

So far, there has been no word on whether or not the remainder of the NBC show’s original cast will be joining Matt Ryan in voicing the rest of the characters. According to Deadline, there will be about five to six, 10-minute episodes for the series premiering sometime in the 2017-2018 TV season.
