Crash Bandicoot 4 Gameplay

The past few years in gaming have seen the return of several iconic characters from past video game generations, with one of the most high-profile returns being that of Crash Bandicoot. The former PlayStation mascot returned in a big way with his inclusion in Skylanders, as well as the N. Sane Trilogy. With the success of these games, Activison inferred that fans were interested in a new Crash Bandicoot game, which was confirmed in the form of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Now, the final Crash Bandicoot 4 gameplay trailer has been revealed, showing some of the franchise’s villains being playable in the new game.

Activision and Toys For Bob have released the final Crash Bandicoot 4 gameplay trailer on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. The new adventure sees Crash and sister Coco Bandicoot traveling across alternate dimensions to find the four Quantum Masks, which have control over space and time. Crash and Coco can make use of these masks to access special abilities, like gravity manipulation.

The Crash Bandicoot 4 gameplay trailer also confirms that some iconic villains from the franchise will also now be playable for certain levels. This will include long-time antagonist Dr. Neo Cortex, armed with a ray gun, and the Australian hybrid Dingodile, who now uses a vacuum gun instead of his classic flamethrower. Also playable is an alternate version of Tawna Bandicoot, Crash’s girlfriend from the first game in the series, who is the buff protagonist of her own dimension. Still present are classic Crash elements, like wumpa fruit, crates and levels where players can ride Polar the Bear.

The game seems like it has found the right balance of innovating new gameplay mechanics and features, while holding true to the classic Crash Bandicoot platforming fun. Corny as it is to say, it’s about time this sequel sees the light of day. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time releases on October 2nd for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the title coming to next-gen consoles at a later date.
