Bully 2 Rumor Suggests Game Was Cancelled

Fans of the original Bully game have been waiting almost 15 years for an appropriate sequel, including the original voice actor for protagonist Jimmy Hopkins Gerry Rosenthal. Unfortunately, it appears that that day may never come, as a new leak has revealed that the Bully 2 game that was at some point in development was eventually cancelled.

The disheartening news comes by way of the folks over at Resetera, which reported that a well known “leak guy” Fika122 got in contact with a former Rockstar Games dev that was located in New England. According to the developer, Bully 2 would have taken place during Jimmy’s summer vacation, at his mom’s new husband’s “enormous” house. Players would be able to explore the nearby town and visit summer camp, all the while dealing with their new step-siblings, who are set up to be the game’s antagonists.

The developer also revealed that there were multiple new game mechanics being developed for Bully 2, such as shimmying across walls, hiding behind columns and trees to avoid being seen, and taking a running dive into a garbage can to avoid pursuers. The developer was laid off while working on these systems, and the project was reportedly cancelled. That said, this all apparently happened roughly ten years ago, and “anything could have happened in the meantime.”

There have of course been recent reports suggesting that Bully 2 is Rockstar’s next big project, so at this point it’ll be interesting to see how much of what was said above is still coming to the sequel, or if the ill-fated project from ten years ago was completely scrapped. For now, we can only hope that the original game wasn’t a simple one-off for Jimmy Hopkins.
