Borderlands 3 Writer Wants To Continue 'Tales From The Borderlands'

With Borderlands 3 on the horizon, all eyes have been on the chaotic Gearbox shooter, with even the likes of Fortnite paying tribute to the nearly-completed Pandoran trilogy. However, with the recent resurgence of formerly-doomed developer Telltale Games, the return of series’-themed episodic adventure, Tales From The Borderlands, has become a real possibility. If Borderlands 3 writer Sam Winkler had his way, he’d be the one to follow-up with a second season.

In an interview with ComicBook, Winkler expressed his desire to further dive into the Borderlands universe and address the “many unsolved threads” that presented themselves in the Telltale series’ first season. “I would love to pick up where Tales from the Borderlands Season 1 left off,” Winkler said. “There’s so many unsolved threads there, and even though we brought some characters into Borderlands 3, there’s still a lot of question marks.”

A few of these unresolved “question marks” left behind by Tales From The Borderlands are expected to be addressed by the upcoming Borderlands 3, especially as the threequel notably includes the Telltale series’ main character Rhys. Winkler suggests a number of these easter eggs might be pleasing for attentive fans to find. “And there’s some nods to that by the way,” Winkler added. “I am a die-hard fan of Tales, and I inserted some winks and nods that are probably going to drive some fan wiki articles.”

Borderlands 3 releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 13th.
