Borderlands 3 Does Not Have An Exclusive Deal With Xbox, Confirms Gearbox Boss

Earlier this month, there were reports floating around that a ton of upcoming titles had exclusive marketing deals with Xbox including Cyberpunk 2077, Battlefield 5, Anthem, and even Borderlands 3. Though some of those titles on the earlier reports have been confirmed, the team over at Gearbox said don’t believe the hype regarding their future release.

Gearbox Boss randy Pitchford set a fan straight on Twitter when one user referenced the aforementioned rumor. This rumor had been circulated on multiple media accounts and quickly grew in reach with E3 looming just around the corner. When the user mentioned the alleged signed deal, Pitchford quickly squashed that rumor:

When another user chimed in that “multiple reputable sources” shared this rumor, Pitchford made it very clue that he is the “reputable source” that they should be paying attention to. You know, since Borderlands 3 is his game.

“Clearly reported by zero reputable sources,” Pitchford replied. “I think to be reputable, one must care about and pursue truth. Reposting news from others without checking the source is one of the failures of digital “journalism.'” Don’t Feed the Gamers read these reports when they first started making their rounds, and though we were able to get a confirmation for some of the titles, such as Anthem, we couldn’t get at 100% on all of them. With Borderlands 3 being such a hot topic, we made the decision not to report this rumor until we heard back from all publishers.  Now, we’re glad we made that decision.

The crew over at Gearbox have been teasing their next “big title” for awhile now, with Pitchford himself teasing about Tiny Tina at last year’s E3 during a sitdown that we were a part of. Hopefully, we’ll see something more concrete with this year’s E3 – and then we can all celebrate together!
