BioShock Anniversary Celebrates 10 Years With a Collector’s Edition and More (VIDEO)
In celebration of the 10 years since the series was brought into the world (August 21st, 2007) and with the immense support it has received through all the games, 2K games and partners have announced a BioShock Anniversary collector’s edition among other precious nuggets of information. Included in the bundle is a collectible 11.9 inch statue of Big Daddy and Little Sister ready for action, featuring a motorized drill, lighting elements, audio clips, and a numbered certificate of authenticity. Of course, what would it be without a copy of BioShock: The Collection as well? In the announcement video below, 2K demonstrates their thanks and appreciation for fans with flashes of cosplay, fanart, and other fan creations from the community:
10 years ago, it started with a lighthouse. You returned with us to rapture. Together, we soared among the clouds and tore reality apart. We asked ‘Would you kindly…?’ and you did. We all make choices, but in the end, you chose us. Thank you.”
The 10-year BioShock Anniversary Collector’s Edition is only available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at GameStop and the online 2K store (US only). For gamers not looking to spend $200 for that bundle of joy, they site is hosting a sale to honor this special occasion. BioShock: The Collection, which is a remastered 1080p bundle that includes “all single-player content, DLC, behind-the-scenes museum, and a new documentary” will be available at a discounted rate at participating retailers.
In anticipation of the upcoming PAX West in Seattle, Washington — full details for the celebration in partnership with IGN have been revealed. Dubbed “Return to the Rapture”, the event is open to the public as long as you’re over the age of 21. There will be a cosplay contest, themed food and drinks, statues, picture perfect opportunities, live music, and more. The celebration will be taking place at The Great Hall in Union Station on September 2nd, 2017 at 9PM. Even though the event is free, make sure to reserve a spot for yourself!
