Battle Royale Will Ship With Every “Online Shooter Within A Year,” Says Former Ubisoft Dev

Battle Royale

There’s no denying that the mega popular Battle Royale game mode has been taking the gaming world by storm as of late. With absolutely no signs of stopping anywhere in sight, it’s only a matter of time before developers begin bringing the feature to their existing properties. That being said, a former Ubisoft dev believe we’ll see the mode in every online shooter in the next year.

Taking to Twitter, former Creative Director at Ubisoft Montreal Alex Hutchinson spoke about Battle Royale and where he sees the game mode going. He notes the difference between game type and mode, and that there would be a low level of difficulty in bringing the popular game mode to any shooter. Check out the tweet for yourself below:

Hutchinson, of course, isn’t just some guy attempting to predict the future of gaming. Part of his job as Ubisoft Montreal’s Creative Director was being able to know the trends of gaming and how to apply them to his team’s efforts to keep them relevant. While it doesn’t take an expert to see Battle Royale taking over the shooting genre, it is nice to see that we aren’t the only ones who think that is the way of the future.

It will not be surprising to see games popping up left and right with the popular feature over the next year. Of course, we certainly hope the market doesn’t become too saturated, but there’s nothing wrong with having a bit of variety.

The most recent developer to jump on the hype train was none other than Cliff Bleszinski and Boss Key Studios. After LawBreakers fell flat, an 80’s-inspired Battle Royale extravaganza by the name of Radical Heights was released. While that title may be free-to-play, we imagine the likes of Battlefield and Call of Duty won’t be following the same path.
