Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Behind The Scenes Look At Naval Exploration In An Open Sea (VIDEO)

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be phenomenal and it’s going to be another massive open world to explore. For the first time, players will get to choose between a male or female role – Alexios or Kassandra – and even optional romantic interests. The game will reintroduce naval combat and water exploration on a bigger scale than Black Flag with a revitalized system of upgrades, recruitment, and challenging underwater combat.

Seen below, Ubisoft lead programmer Pierre-Luc Vachon, technical lead James Carnahan, and game designer Charles Benoit take a deep-dive behind the scenes of naval combat and exploration in an open sea. Players can recruit members to their motley crew to board the ship anywhere in the world, whether it be during missions or a traipse through the massive world of Ancient Greece. Fight off sharks and other predatory animals as you hunt for underwater treasure, board ships after their demise for loot, or demolish ships into oblivion with rams and cleaves.

In addition to the open reception that Assassin’s Creed Origins received, Odyssey takes on a more committed duty to role-playing than its predecessor. Launching this Fall 2018, enthusiasts of the A.C. franchise will have more choices than ever before as a spartan hero of Ancient Greece or a mercenary who follows their own moral compass. Want senseless romantic flings or none at all? Explore the sea and what she has to offer? It’s your world to take and enjoy.
