Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Coming To Mobile Devices In November (VIDEO)

Animal Crossing Pocket

Nintendo’s foray into mobile gaming has been met with mixed results. Super Mario Run broke many iOS records, but its gameplay was met with middling critical reception. Fire Emblem Heroes has been financially successful, but the franchise has never been an earth-shakingly popular franchise outside of Japan. As such, both Nintendo and their fans have likely been eagerly awaiting the Animal Crossing mobile game that has been in development for quite some time. After experiencing several delays and release push-backs, we are now just a month away from the launch of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp on mobile devices.

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp was the focus of a new Nintendo Direct released on YouTube this week, seen in the video above, announcing that the game would be arriving to the iOS and Android app stores in late November. While the game is played in your phone’s vertical mode, much like Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes, the gameplay and structure appears to be very similar to previous entries in the Animal Crossing franchise. The player’s character moves to a new town, sets up a new residence, interacts with the locals and collects items (including fruits, bugs and fish) in hopes of collecting enough currency to buy items for their home and pay off their mortgage.

Where this game differs is the theme revolves around camping culture, which is why the player’s home is now a camper that can be decorated as much as traditional Animal Crossing houses. The big addition is a crafting system used for building furniture that can attract new visitors. There are some wait times involved with the crafting system sped up with the new in-game currency called Leaf Tickets, and those can be purchased with real money. Leaf Tickets can also be traded in for the last bits of crafting material you need to make that new bench you’ve been wanting.

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp looks like it will be a relatively faithful new entry in the Animal Crossing series, and it is available for pre-registration on iOS and Android now!
