Angela Basset Added To Black Panther Marvel Film Cast
The role of Black Panther (T’Challa)’s mother Ramonda has been given to Academy Award nominee, Angela Bassett. Bassett is know for her roles in American Horror Story, Boyz n the Hood, Green Lantern and many other well known films/tv shows. Outside of the knowledge that she will be playing Ramonda, there’s not been much else to tell about the actresses casting. It remains unknown the amount of screen time she’ll get in Marvel Studios up and coming film.
The film is being directed by Ryan Coogler, and has (so far) an outstanding cast of actors to fill the various parts the film requires. Some of the major name drops are Chadwick Boseman (Gods of Egypt, Captain America: Civil War) who will be playing Black Panther himself, as well as Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead) playing the role of Okoye. Other names for the film are Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Martin Freeman (The Hobbit), and Lupita Nyong’o (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) just to name a few.
According to Boseman, the film will have a more serious tone, and in a interview with CBR.com he stated that “darker superhero movies are the ones that I gravitate towards, that I love the most.”
Needless to say, Marvel never really disappoints, and according to IMDB, the movie is set to release February 16th, 2018! What are your thoughts on the upcoming film? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below!
