With the fall premier of American Horror Story’s season 7 coming soon, show runners are gearing up audiences with their first sneak peek into what fans can expect from the upcoming season. Posted on Instagram, Ryan Murphy uploaded a photo with the caption “American Horror Story Season 7 tease”, and the sketch upload promises what looks to be the most terrifying season of the twisted series to date! With an earlier hint from Murphy that season 7 would be based on the 2016 election year, this teaser definitely supports that claim. Assuming that the sketch is of a creepy political mask (the elephant does represent the Republican party), this could also be taken as a tie-in to last year’s thriller The Purge: Election Year, with this blatant political overtone drawn out in detail. Though, knowing the story behind American Horror Story, this sketch could very well be a new demonic creature cooked up by the writers of the show. To find out which it is, fans will just have to wait and see when the season premiers this fall!

As for the political tones of the show, Murphy has also eluded to what exactly might transpire during the first episode of the season. In a previous report, Ryan Murphy hinted that more than just a frightening political election will be going down in the first episode:

The first 10 minutes of the season, this season, takes place in a very eerie macabre way on election night and there’s something terrible that happens in the lives of our characters on election night as they’re watching it all go down. Which in itself was a horror story, so it’s like a horror story upon a horror story.
