Another month comes to a close, and while the end of August coincides with winding down the summer movie season, Netflix is looking to fill our time with another round of new movie and TV selections. The updated lineup for Netflix September 2019–while comparatively light–includes a number of awaited additions such as the latter two Lord of the Rings films, more episodes of animated fantasy series Disenchantment, and the final season of Batman prequel Gotham.

Those looking for a good ol’ binge session are in luck, as numerous shows are receiving new episodes such as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Walking Dead, and American Horror Story, in addition to several Netflix Originals like deep-diving educational series Explained, international crime drama Criminal, and a film-adaptation of Zach Galifianakis’ Between Two Ferns. Though the month appears largely focused on shows, Netflix September nonetheless pulls in numerous favorite films such as stylish action adaptation 300, classic Bill Murray comedy Stripes, and Ryan Reynolds-voiced animation Turbo.

Netflix September 2019 looks to largely be a month of losses, with quite a few big movies and series’ biting the dust in the coming weeks. The Fast and the Furious series is driving its separate ways, Christopher Nolan’s Batman series is flying off into the night, and quite a few animated Disney films make their exit ahead of their debut on rival streaming service Disney+. As the final blow to Netflix September, multiple seasons of shows Californication, Portlandia, and Parenthood also say their goodbye by the end of the month.

Though last month held a number of big announcements, Netflix news hasn’t been the most prevalent of late; though, it hasn’t been completely uneventful. A new actor has been cast in the streaming platform’s adaptation of The Witcher, and a spiffy new Witcher III mod has attempted to capture the show early with Geralt actor Henry Cavill.
