Activision Declares Infinite Warfare On Dog Poo Service ‘Call Of DooDee’

DooDee

Each year, Call of Duty consistently proves how successful a long-running franchise can be, with the latest entry WWII becoming yet another big hit for Activision. While the refined multiplayer is the series’ main draw, it’s undeniable that the “Call of Duty” name alone carries immense value for consumers. The first-person shooter has become so popular that even non-gaming businesses are starting to take notice. This fact is none more evident in the dog poop removal service Call of DooDee.

The business’s clever poo punnage may be humorous to most, but Activision doesn’t seem to appreciate the comedy. When attempting to patent the Call of DooDee name, the Illinois owner was met with opposition, with Activision likely wishing to keep their brand clean from the image of dog waste. All was revealed in a recent post on Resetera:

On June 16, 2017, an Illinois citizen filed in the US via the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) a trademark application, US Serial Number 87493505, for “Call of DooDee” under Goods and Services for Dog waste removal services. An express abandonment for the application was received in the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) of the USPTO on October 24, 2017, however the application was published for opposition on October 31, 2017.”

Activision currently has 23 US trademarks related to Call of Duty, none of which are in any way poop-related. The company will have until the end of 2018 to file opposition and express how “DooDee” could taint their AAA franchise. Failure to follow up or prove their case could put the Call of DooDee name in the clear, forever flushing Activision’s hopes down the toilet.
What do you think? Will Call of DooDee be able to keep their name, or will this poop crapshoot end with Activision on top?
