Guillermo del Toro, the film director, producer, screenwriter, and novelist, is definitely not over his grudge against Konami. With titles such as Pan’s Labyrinth, Blade II, Hellboy 1 & 2, and Pacific Rim under his belt, he really is a talented man who should NOT be messed with.

Del Toro was previously working on the 9th installment of the Silent Hill game series with Hideo Kojima and actor Norman Reedus in 2012 for Konami, before it was canceled abruptly in 2015. In March of that year, there were rumors that Kojima was having conflicts with Konami and he planned to leave with his senior staff once Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was complete. Soon after Konami announced a “Restructuring” of it’s video game company and removed all mentions of Kojima and Kojima Productions from all of its promotions.

A spokesperson for Konami then denied that Hideo Kojima was leaving and insisted he would still be involved. In April Guillermo del Toro told the attendees at the San Francisco Film Society event that Silent Hills had been cancelled and the very next day Norman Reedus confirmed it on his Twitter. Konami then announced that the Silent Hills P.T. would be pulled from the PlayStation Store and eventually gave a statement confirming the cancellation.

All clues point to Guillermo del Toro still being quite bitter about whatever went down. At the Game Awards last night, their new project Death Stranding was featured with a new mysterious clip to get us all excited, and when Del Toro tweeted the footage he made it a point to show exactly how he felt about Konami.

This isn’t the first time that Guillermo del Toro has expressed his feelings about the cancellation of Silent Hill.

Del Toro is famous for combining fairy tales and horror. His lifelong fascination with monsters will make for great collaborations on any horror game he touches.
