Hidden Bloodborne Map Found In Dark Souls Remastered Becomes A GTA V Mod (VIDEO)
Fans of the Dark Souls series are no doubt thrilled to be playing through the original game with rejuvenated looks and a vibrant community in the form of Dark Souls Remastered. As promised, the remaster gives a more polished version of the original game with performance improvements to aspects such as the infamous Blighttown. It seems that it also contains secrets fans have not known about until now. Dataminers have discovered that Dark Souls Remastered hides an early version of a Bloodborne map.
Here’s a look at the early prototype of Bloodborne’s “Upper Cathedral Ward” map that was left behind in the Dark Souls REMASTERED files. It was created a long time ago back back when Dark Souls was in development. It’s not new work by the REMASTERED team. pic.twitter.com/BKBVGl1o8t

Images of the early Bloodborne map that Dark Souls Remastered hides in its code can be seen above from Lance McDonald’s Twitter account. Originally, a modder named Dropoff found it among the game’s files hidden in a folder named “m99_99_98_00,”. This naming convention is fairly common among From Software games, but upon inspection Dropoff found the Upper Cathedral Ward, an optional area discovered by players much later throughout the course of Bloodborne.
According to Lance McDonald, this discovered map was not a new addition to the Remastered version of Dark Souls. This design could apparently be found in the original 2011 version of the game on PlayStation 3, meaning Bloodborne was in the works even earlier than fans may have previously thought.
The sudden discovery only gets stranger as Dropoff has already found a way to transmit the data for the Upper Cathedral Ward into Grand Theft Auto V and turn it into an explorable area. In the clip seen above, Dropoff shows the player as Trevor walking and driving around the cathedral, revealing just how elaborate it was even in this early state. This is certainly an interesting find, and proves the lengths that From Software goes to when crafting new dark worlds in which many face death countless times.
