Bethesda’s Fallout: New Vegas (FNV) is one of the most modded games out there. A team of story writers, coders, animators, and artists have worked hard and continue to work to bring a massive and insanely detailed story mod to FNV. This addition to the post apocalyptic desert themed game will take players to the snow covered Northwest. Check out the trailer (not railer) for Fallout: The Frontier below:

The team behind this project calls themselves Hive Mind. They have a team worthy of starting their own small developing company, and if the trailer is any indication, they have the skill as well. The Frontier will take your Courier to to the ruins of what was once Portland, Oregon. Why Portland? According to the team’s FAQ page:

“The base idea of the Frontier was to construct a completely new environment from the Mojave Desert and Capital Wasteland.
Portland, Oregon was chosen for many reasons. I know some of you from Oregon may say, there is no way in hell that Portland gets this much snow and some location in Canada may fit better with the Frontier. While this is true, keep in mind that it would have been even harder to fit the NCR and the Legion that far up north with a reasonable explanation. Right now, the reason for a lot of snow in Portland is, when the nukes hit this location, a cloud of dust and ash went up and blocked the sun. So everything under, essentially froze over.”

Aside from making sure that everything in The Frontier stays true to Fallout lore, fans of FNV can expect to see the familiar factions of The Legion, New California Republics, as well as the Scavengers. The team is also working on including vaults throughout the new worldspace, and even say they are working on “a big one.”

The mod is large enough to be considered like an expansion, but is not complete as of yet. No official release date has been given, but you can follow the progress of The Frontier  by visiting the official website. This in game modification will only be for PC users as mods are unavailable for FNV on consoles.
