Pillars Of Eternity II: Deadfire Delayed, Obsidian Entertainment Explains Why
With the long-awaited Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire delayed, fans anticipating its April release are likely groaning in disappointment. Honestly, same. Given how successful its crowdfunding endeavor was on Kickstarter and Fig, reaching well over 3 million dollars invested by backers, it was time for investors and fans alike to rub their hands together with glee. However, Obsidian has good reason for this. So to dull the force of a delay, they have a new message for everyone:
Greetings fans!
We know you’re as excited as we are about the upcoming launch of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. As you have probably guessed, Deadfire is a huge game — significantly larger than the original Pillars of Eternity. Obsidian has been working harder than Abydon himself to make sure every inch of it is awesome, as well as incorporating all the great feedback we have been getting from everyone playing the Backer Beta.
With this in mind, we are taking just a few extra weeks to polish and put those finishing touches on the game. Our new launch date will be Tuesday, May 8, 2018. To tide you over until then, you can look forward to plenty of Deadfire-related news and content coming in the weeks and months.
See you all soon in the Deadfire!
– Obsidian”
Compared to the original title released in 2015, there’s much more content to explore – the world more vast, minute details to consider, and quality assurance to account for toward the end especially before launch. Thankfully, the date has only been extended a little over a month from the former April 3rd to May 8th, which makes the Deadfire delayed news an easier pill to swallow. It’s all in the name of a smooth release day.
Aside from that, fans are expecting a quality story just like the original game with update graphics, gameplay mechanics, monsters, and so much more. In this sequel, adventurers are on the hunt for a “rogue god” that will take place on land and sea in a single-player RPG experience. Built on the “foundation of classic Dungeons & Dragons gameplay”, this is a game where your personal choices matter in the long-term and that’s exactly what people want.
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire will be available for PC via Steam or GoG. How are you feeling with news of Deadfire delayed?
