Cyberpunk 2077 Steam Availability Confirmed By CD Projekt Red (VIDEO)
While some gamers had no doubt that CD Projekt Red’s latest endeavor would be available on PC, there will always be speculation without an official statement. Aside from the fact that they also own GOG, there was no guarantee it would leave their exclusive online distribution site. Thankfully, during the Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar that took place last week, CD Projekt Red has confirmed a Cyberpunk 2077 Steam release. In other words, their upcoming title will not be a GOG exclusive.
In retrospect, it would make sense as their critically-acclaimed sequel The Witcher 3 was available on from both distributors. Aside from that CDPR CEO, Adam Kacinski, believes they’ve got another fantastic journey ahead for fans. Taking great care by investing in various vital stages of production, quality is a priority for the studio. In fact, Cyberpunk 2077 will be “even more ambitious” than The Witcher 3 with “rich, true-to-life visuals” in an “open world with open-ended gameplay”. Here’s the entirety of what Kacinski had to say on their upcoming title:
Cyberpunk is our new Witcher 3, but even more ambitious. Our goal is to establish a new blockbuster franchise from the beginning. We’re working in a new universe – futuristic universe. We believe it’s very appealing to players. Not only to RPG players, but this is true RPG like Witcher, like Witcher 3. For mature audiences, it’s hand-crafted, detailed. Of course, open world with open-ended gameplay.”
Seeing how all-around successful that game was, it’s certainly no small feat to say that they’re taking it steps further. Furthermore, there’s no doubt that the Cyberpunk 2077 Steam availability will boost their sales since that only increases their reach. As seen in the presentation above, one of their biggest successes was seen in the two expansion released for The Witcher 3. So, with emphasis on that, that same strategy will likely be applied to the upcoming title as well.
