Mario Dances Around In Live-Action Super Mario Odyssey Trailer (VIDEO)
Mario has taken up a large number of hobbies since he debuted in 1981, the former plumber having competed in fighting tournaments, go-karting races, and various party games over the years. It looks like we can add choreographed dancing to his list of skills if a new Super Mario Odyssey trailer is anything to go by. As seen in the following video, Mario dances and hops his way around the streets of New Donk City, while a partially-obscured Pauline performs the game’s infectious theme song “Jump Up, Super Star!”

The tail end of the footage features a short montage of gameplay from Super Mario Odyssey, showing off the Switch title’s vastly different worlds. A Japanese commercial released around the same time expands on that aspect, by offering even more wild scenarios Mario will find himself in, including a close encounter with a T-Rex, and an even closer contact with a cactus. Check it out below.
There’s only a handful of days remaining before Super Mario Odyssey hits stores, and the Nintendo title promises a number of departures rarely seen in the series: The removal of game over screens, an absence of a hub world, and Mario’s lack of a shirt that the internet refuses to get over. Hopefully none of the fun present in these trailers will be missing when Super Mario Odyssey hits the Nintendo Switch on October 27.
What do you think? Are various Mario dances a good marketing strategy Odyssey, or is that song beginning to get a little on your nerves?
