Fans who have been engaged in the world of Pokemon cards for more than a decade may remember with fondness the feeling of unveiling shiny Pokemon trading cards when buying decks and packs. A new expansion has arrived called “Shining Legends” that will bring them back for collectors who are interested.  Among them are shiny (“Shining” or “Alternate color”) legendary Pokemon that span the generational spectrum.

The new shiny Pokemon trading cards will include fan favorites like Mew, Ho-Oh, and Rayquazza. Also shuffled in the set are Raichu and Mewtwo, but they are not shiny. However, they will make a powerful addition to any deck. Check out the new cards in the gallery below:

The last time shiny Pokemon trading cards were added to a set was in 2002 in Neo Destiny. Ones like Gyarados, Raichu, Mewtwo, and Charizard were among the characters to make their shiny debut. At the time only a single shiny Pokemon could be in any deck. However, the new Shining Legends expansion has eliminated the rule and allows players to keep as many as they like.

Pokemon-Star also featured “alternate color” cards that worked similarly to the shiny Pokemon trading cards in use now. These cards saw their final additions in 2007, marking the end of these cards in circulation until the advent of Shining Legends. Elite Trainer Booster Sets and character focused packs are now available and Premium collectors boxes can be found for those interested in catching them all!
