Resident Evil Star Milla Jovovich Cast in Hellboy Reboot

Milla Jovovich

Milla Jovovich has had a long career as a badass female protagonist. Her most iconic roles have been Leeloo in The Fifth Element, as well as her portrayal of Alice in the Resident Evil films. Jovovich may be done slaying zombies and mutants infected by the Umbrella Corporation, but she’s not done kicking ass just yet. It seems as though the female action star is headed to face off against Hellboy in the upcoming reboot.

According to sources, Jovovich has been cast to play the Blood Queen, the primary villain in the upcoming Hellboy reboot. She will play opposite David Harbour (Stranger Things), who will be playing the titular red hero, Hellboy. Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen will also star Ian McShane (American Gods, Game of Thrones) as Trevor Broom, the adopted father of Big Red.

The film is being directed by Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, Doomsday), with a script that is being written by Andrew Crosby (Eureka), Christopher Golden ( Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds), and Hellboy’s creator, Mike Mignola. Harbour will replace actor Ron Perlman as the protagonist and McShane will be filling the role once played by the late John Hurt.

Not much is known for the plot of the upcoming reboot, but the cast is certainly shaping up to be stellar. Fans have been divided since the announcement that Ron Perlman and Guillermo del Toro wouldn’t be making a third film together. Some argue that the Perlman/Del Toro Hellboy franchise needed to be a trilogy. While we may not get another film from them, at least there’s a new Hellboy movie in the works. That’s something, right?

Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen starring David Harbour, Ian McShane, and Milla Jovovich is estimated to release some time in 2018. What are your thoughts on the cast so far?
