Henry Cavill’s Glorious Superman Mustache Will be Erased in Justice League
Justice League reshoots are currently underway and, as Variety reports, these pickups are more than a little extensive. This means the main cast is due in front of the camera once again, including actor Henry Cavill, who is sporting quite the manly mustache at the moment. The Man of Steel may be able to hide his identity with a single pair of glasses, but something a little more advanced will be needed to cover up Cavill’s Superman mustache. Rather than shave the glorious lip caterpillar, filmmakers have opted to erase the actor’s new facial hair using the magic of visual effects.
No, this special treatment isn’t a case of mustache fever (but we wouldn’t blame DC if it was). Henry Cavill’s follically inclined role in Mission Impossible 6 looks to be the culprit, with Paramount reportedly forbidding removal of the ‘stash while the spy thriller is in production. This has caused the in-demand actor to travel between the two film shoots with his burly bristles intact, opting Justice League‘s cornered filmmakers to remove the whiskers in post-production.
Sadly, it looks as though a Kryptonian crumb-catcher won’t be making an appearance in Justice League, but that hasn’t stopped supporters on Twitter from voicing their approval. Fans of the Superman mustache have urged the DC Extended Universe to keep the new facial fur in the film, with one user even suggesting a marketing tie-in with shaving company Gillette. I guess we’ll see if Warner Bros. listened when Justice League hits theaters in November.
This would be a good time for Gillette to bring back that "How Does Superman Shave?" ad campaign. pic.twitter.com/aMk56ogZSL
