Though Wonder Woman is receiving rave reviews from critics world-wide, DC is definitely having a hell of a time with their other projects lined up for the future. Just earlier this week, the Justice League movie had a change in leadership when Zach Snyder stepped down from his role as director after the tragic loss of his daughter. Now the Justice League Dark film seems to be in the same position of musical directors as new reports show that Liman is no longer tied to the project.

According to Variety, Liman is no longer able to take the helm of the DC film due to his hectic schedule. His previous works include the likes of Edge of Tomorrow and The Bourne Identity, so it would have been interesting to see his direction for the Justice League Dark movie – alas, it wasn’t meant to be. His work on the upcoming film Chaos Walking still continues though for fans of his work.

The search is now  on, according to sources, as Warner Bros hits the ground running in the hopes of nabbing the perfect director. According to said reports, a decision should be reached “shortly”, and we’ll have more news on the future of the film then.

It’s sad to see Liman drop out, he seemed to be very enthusiastic about his vision for the film. Not too long ago he mentioned that he had a “really amazing take on it,” and that he couldn’t wait to show his character-driven style with a DC film “unlike any other”.

After Guillermo de Toro and now Doug Liman’s decision to drop out of this project, it will be interesting to see where the film goes from here. Only time will tell, but with the amazing success of Wonder Woman thus far, it’s not far fetched to keep hope alive.
