Apex Legends Dev Working On New IP 'From Scratch'

Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has its fingers in quite a few pies. With the studio continuing to pump out new content for the battle royale title while also working on the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the developer has announced that it is hiring for a brand new IP, once again dashing the hopes of those that have been waiting years for Titanfall 3.

The news comes by way of Respawn Entertainment head Vince Zampella, who took to Twitter to retweet the news that a small 5-person team at Respawn that is currently looking for a sixth person (a coder) to “help build a new IP from scratch.” The original Tweet includes a link to the application page for an Incubation Team Software Engineer.

As one would expect, the application page doesn’t reveal much in terms of what to expect from the new IP. What the page does reveal is that it’s looking for fresh blood to help enable “adventuring until the heat death of the universe,” which could imply that the new IP is either a live service game or simply a game that fits under the Adventure genre. One refreshing aspect of the application page is the “hard-zero policy against crunch and overtime,” an issue that has unfortunately permeated throughout the gaming industry these past few years. Those looking to check out the application page for themselves can do so right here.
