Injustice 2 Teaser Hints at Story, New Reveals Coming Soon

Injustice 2 Teaser

The studio behind the Mortal Kombat franchise, NetherRealm Studios, is currently working on the sequel to the 2013 DC Comics fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Since its reveal at the 2016 E3 conference, little has been uncovered about the upcoming game. A quick Injustice 2 teaser has surfaced on the game’s official Twitter account, giving us another date to look forward to.

The Twitter post features a (very) quick glimpse of the last son of Krypton, a.k.a. Superman, holding a woman’s body that is covered in a sheer shroud. “The Lines Are Redrawn,” appears within the body of the post, followed by, “Find out more 01.17.2017.” That roughly translates to, “everyone better get excited because we’re about to show you some more of this amazing roster we’ve put together.” Or, so we hope. The GIF also seems to be focused on the story of the game. In the first game, Superman was the main antagonist of the plot following the death of Lois Lane. No official information has been given, thus far, about the narrative of the upcoming sequel, other than it is a continuity of the first story.

That’s not all that was teased on Twitter. The official DC Comics Twitter posted another GIF of what appears to be (the already confirmed) Wonder Woman and Supergirl in an epic battle. Once again, the date of January 17, 2017 appears in the body of the tweet.

The new title isn’t due out until May 16, 2017 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but January 17 may prove to be quite the day for fans of the franchise. Previously, Creative Director Ed Boon has taken to Twitter to get the hype train rolling with polls asking which characters fans would like to see make it on the sequel’s roster. At the time of writing, the only confirmed characters are Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd, Blue Beetle, Flash, Aquaman, Atrocitus, Deadshot, and Harley Quinn. Boon has also claimed that Injustice 2 will feature the largest roster of DC Comics’ characters to ever appear in a video game. Hopefully we will get more roster details on the 17th.

What do you think the Injustice 2 teaser means as far as story progression? Are you excited for the continuation of the DC fighting game? Sound off in the comments below and be sure to check back with DFTG for more news on Injustice 2 as it develops.
