A prequel to the Darksiders series is on its way in Darksiders Genesis, offering a Diablo-like top-down spin on the traditional hack-and-slash gameplay featured in the franchise thus far. As this entry also introduces a new protagonist in Strife, the series’ fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, fans are surely in for a unique experience when the latest from Airship Syndicate and THQ Nordic eventually sees release.

By the looks of the game’s upcoming premium Nephilim Edition, it appears Genesis won’t be the series’ only shake-ups featured at launch. Notably appearing in the aforementioned edition is a bevy of spiffy goodies, including an entire Darksiders-themed board game called Darksiders: The Forbidden Land. Little was officially detailed about this yet-unreleased tabletop experience, though we do get a peek at the full multi-hex-based setup in the trailer below, alongside an official product description from Amazon.

• The Nephilim Edition contains all the loot from the Collector’s Edition as well as the Limited Edition Darksiders: the forbidden land board game!
• Blast Angels and demons as the gunslinging Horseman Strife, playable for the first time

Darksiders Genesis Nephilim Edition is currently available for pre-order on Amazon for the price of $379.99 USD. While fetching for an admittedly hefty sum, this particular collection does appear to be mostly for Darksiders devotees who also happen to be fans of premium board games. The Nephilim Edition is limited to 5,000 units worldwide, though, gamers without the need for Darksiders board game (or don’t have the loftiest of wallets) can spring for the special Collector’s Edition on Amazon for $119.99 USD.
