Geoff Johns: New DC Show and His Return To Comics
DC Film’s co-head and President Geoff Johns had comic enthusiasts as well as fans of the comic book movie genre ablaze throughout the interwebs when he took to Twitter in the wee hours of Sunday morning. The comic book veteran initiated the 2017 hype train for DC properties across three different mediums via a series of tweets shortly after ringing in the new year. Johns conveyed the top five DC events taking place this year that he’s most excited about. As you can see below, working his way through the events from five to one, he teased the announcement of a new DC TV series, hyped the Injustice 2 video game, and also put a positive emphasis on the Justice League film (pointing out our first big screen version of Meria ever) and the upcoming Wonder Woman solo film.

If you’re already familiar with Johns’ work then it should come as little surprise that the executive’s number one event for 2017 was him returning to write comics. He last worked on 2016’s Rebirth #1, which introduced the new DC lineup where we eventually learn that a decade of memories had be stolen from the DC universe by Watchmen’s Dr. Manhattan. Conveniently, Johns posted a graphic of the character as a part of his announcement. Little else is known other than what can be taken away from his post seen below.
And 1) Writing comics again… stay tuned! Happy New Year!!! pic.twitter.com/zUvs4NIXhM
