When Rainbow Six Siege was initially released back in 2015, it wasn’t exactly the most successful start for the game. However, as time went on, Ubisoft kept at it with the updates that improved gameplay, added content, and much more. This is likely why it has become one of the studio’s biggest successes. That said, this has led many to wonder when we can expect Rainbow Six Siege 2, but the devs don’t seem to have a sequel in mind.

While speaking with the Daily Star at the Pro League Season IX Finals, brand director Alexandre Remy touched on why Rainbow Six Siege 2 isn’t on their minds at the moment. Instead of jumping into a sequel, they are instead focusing on the next generation of consoles and bringing the current game to them. “We don’t want a sequel whatsoever,” Remy said.

The reason behind this is we don’t want to segregate our community between the different platforms. In an ideal world tomorrow, we’d love players from every platform to be able to play together. We are approaching next-gen with the same spirit. We have to make every effort possible that when next gen comes in, they are treated as a high-end PC versus another PC.”

With Operation Phantom Sight set to kick off the second season of Year 4 this month, it would definitely appear that Ubisoft isn’t slowing down with the updates and content, which will likely continue as the next generation of consoles is ushered in. Needless to see, the chances of Rainbow Six Siege 2 happening are looking pretty slim.
