The franchise goes back decades so it’s no surprise that the franchise has a cult following. In fact, it is so popular that PC players have crowd-funded an emulator. In a behind-the-scenes Nintendo bonus interview, the masterminds share their favorite parts about the game they created. Sitting in the panel is Eiji Aonuma (Producer), Hidemaro Fujibayashi (Director), Hajime Wakai (Sound Director), Satoru Takizawa (Art Director), and Takuhiro Dohta (Technical Director). It’s easy to see how well the group get along and how these guys came to produce a critically-acclaimed title. Check out the video below as the Breath of the Wild developers reveal their answers:
The interview starts off rather humorous when the interviewer asks about what they “normally do to relax”. The room is met with genuine silence only to be followed by light-hearted chuckles. In the following questions, the team is asked who their favorite character is, their favorite location, and food. Toward the end, each person shares their own messages of appreciation and express the amount of work that went into Breath of the Wild. Namely, Dohta wanted viewers to know that there was no “right way” to play and that the game was meant to be enjoyed however the player wished. Fujibayashi, on the other hand, hopes that players are able to find the Easter eggs and hidden treasures within the game. He encourages players to discover the unknown and letting curiosity take over.
The world in this game is extremely vast, but we made sure that there is always something to discover whenever you see something suspicious, so I hope that players will enjoy uncovering the elements and secrets that we hid in the world as they play.
The biggest take-away from this adorable “Bonus Session” is that while a lot of hard work went into the game, the developers always had the players enjoyment in mind. The Breath of the Wild developers reveal how grateful they are for the fans and gamers around the world, hoping that their work brings joys to families.
